POSITION: Machinists #DFC021023 – 1
LOCATION: Benoni
REPORTING TO: Production Manager
JOB SUMMARY STATEMENT: The incumbent should be able to either operate various conventional machines such as Vertical and Horizontal Lathe, Milling and Boring machines or setting up and operating of CNC machines according to given specifications.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS (DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES):

• Operating conventional Lathe, Milling, Boring and or Operating of CNC machines including any other job specified for a qualified artisan or Setter/Programmer.
• Marking off with relevant measuring tools and setting the fixtures or jigs or stops as per job specifications.
• Do first off and process checks as per job specifications.
• Observing machine operations to detect work piece defects or machine malfunctions and adjusting machines as necessary.
• Ensure that tasks are completed in line with the operating procedures.
• Reads works orders defining types of materials and determining correct lengths and diameters to be cut to meet different job requirements.
• Grinding or sharpening of drill bits to suit specified tasks.
• Attending and contributing to daily green Area meetings.
• House keeping and ability to pay attention to detail.
• Assist where necessary with writing and editing programs of machines to ensure that jobs are completed efficiently within the standard times.
• Perform any other duties that are reasonably requested.

ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Grade 12
• Qualifications: Trade Tested either in the following, Fitting & Turning/Machinists, Tool Making or
• Qualified CNC Programmer/Setters with strong background knowledge of Mastercam / Edgecam Proficiency

EXPERIENCE:

• 2 years’ production experience in any manufacturing plant.
